CTA observes prayer service for natural disaster and Covid19 affected Tibetans inside Tibet

Dharamshala: Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) held a prayer service to express solidarity and mourn the deaths of Tibetans in Tibet caused by natural calamities and increasing cases of Covid-19 and Sikyong said "I wish all the affected Tibetans and Chinese a swift recovery and release from suffering."

The Central Tibetan Administration organized a prayer service at Sikyong Hall, T-building Gangkyi, headquarter of the CTA, Dharamshala, H.P., India, to express its solidarity with the Tibetans affected by the natural disasters and Covid-19 cases in Tibet. CTA also closed all its offices after the prayer service to express its solidarity with the Tibetan brothers and sisters in Tibet who are suffering from natural disasters and Covid-19.

During the prayer service on September 6, 2022, Sikyong of the CTA addressed the congregation and said, “The death toll from the recent quake in Tibet did not specify how many of them were Tibetans and how many were Chinese. Regardless of nationality, we express solidarity for all those affected by the natural disaster which registered 6.8 on the Richter scale.”

“The Covid-restrictions have added to the hardship of Tibetans inside Tibet. Though we cannot ascertain the number of casualties, I wish all the affected Tibetans and Chinese a swift recovery and release from suffering. Through the Department of Religion, we have issued a directive to the settlements to observe a regular prayer service in this regard,” he said.
